Clients: Arena Hospitality Group d.d.

Project date: May, 2023.

Project type: Pro Audio,

Hotel Park Plaza Histria is located on the Verudela peninsula in Pula. For years, this hotel has been a symbol of the tourist offer of the city of Pula. The hotel offers its guests a perfect view of the Adriatic Sea and is located just a few kilometers from the city center. The hotel is managed by the Arena Hospitality Group which continuously invests in improving its offer. Thus, it offers its guests top facilities such as a congress center, several restaurants, swimming pools with sea water, a wellness center, saunas and much more. In order to complete their offer and facilities, a unique new club – Jazz House was opened in the area of the former casino that was part of the hotel. The project of repurposing the casino space into a Jazz House aims to enrich the cultural scene of Pula through quality jazz programs throughout the year. It is precisely for this reason that this new space is dedicated to providing a platform for talented artists and as such will represent the new center of the Pula and world jazz scene. Many musical performances by various jazz artists are planned, thus providing the tourist offer of the city of Pula with new content.

Project description

Given that such a space needs a high-end audio system to be functional, we are very proud to have participated in designing and equipping the Jazz House with a new audio system.

We were contacted by the client to offer our solution for a new audio system and its programming, assembly and commissioning. Since the function of this space is primarily a concert, top-quality sound and good coverage of the space with it was of utmost importance. We proposed the implementation of RCF sound boxes along with the DPA Microphones solution for sounding the drum set that will be on stage. The proposal was accepted by the client and we started with the installation of the equipment.

The space in front of the stage is covered with two RCF TT 515-A a two-way active speaker system as the main sound system. Flexibility, power, and compactness are the main features of these professional active speakers from RCF’s TT+ series, which are also visually perfectly integrated into the Jazz House. Since the club space is very open, in order to achieve full coverage in all parts, we used four RCF ART 708-A MK4 active sound boxes. ART 708-A MK4 is a unique product in RCF Live sound category. Its 1.0″ compression driver offers unique vocal clarity and sound projection, and the 8″ woofer offers extremely linear response and precise, deep low-frequency control. In order to complete the sound, we implemented a subwoofer solution;  two of RCF SUB 702 AS II, 112″ bass reflex active subwoofer sound box perfectly complemented the sound. Every top musician needs such stage monitoring, so we have delivered four RCF HD 10-A MK5 sound boxes that can be used as monitors on stage but also as boxes for sounding the space if necessary. In order to better reproduce the sound of the drums, DPA Microphones were supplied. DPA 4055  condenser open cardioid microphone for bass drum as well as a stereo pair of the latest amplification in the DPA live microphone family 2015. A stereo pair of 2015 d:dicate™ microphones with holders and wind protection is the ultimate overhead solution for a drum set. You can find out more about them here.

In addition to the implemented audio system, new cables were laid for all positions of the installed speakers, which are connected to the digital sound processor. The entire audio system was designed and put into operation in a very short time. The client and we ourselves are extremely satisfied with the results obtained with the new audio system and the excellent sound coverage of the space.
