Danish DPA Microphones unveiled its latest product, the DPA 6388 CORE+ Directional headset microphone! The DPA 6388 CORE+ Directional Headset is a high-performance microphone designed for the most demanding live conditions, where clarity, resistance to microphony and ease of use are key.

DPA 6388 CORE+

Like all new DPA solutions, the 6388 comes with the latest DPA CORE+ technology. This headset microphone combines a supercardioid pattern, a physically asymmetrical design and a shifted acoustic axis of the microphone capsule. Combined with a precisely controlled proximity effect, the microphone becomes significantly less sensitive and ensures a more consistent, high-quality sound, even when moved or repositioned during performance.

The microphone builds on the legacy of the DPA 4088 directional capsule, adding even higher levels of resistance to microphonics, greater sonic clarity and even more reliable results in real-world conditions. The DPA 6388 CORE+ eliminates the trade-offs between sound quality and isolation, while delivering a very natural, authentic sound with effective rejection of unwanted impurities. It maintains uniform directivity throughout the frequency range, ensuring linear off-axis attenuation and stable tonal balance for natural sound reproduction. The result is reduced stage bleed and significantly improved gain performance before microphonics occurs.

Unlike traditional directional headset microphones, the DPA 6388 CORE+ features a variable microphone boom placement, on the left or right side of the head. It also allows the microphone to be positioned next to or slightly behind the speaker’s mouth. This not only improves aesthetics, but also reduces boomy voices and noise, without compromising tonal accuracy, enabling exceptional speech intelligibility in very complex acoustic environments.

The microphone is ideal for environments where clear speech isolation is required, such as corporate events and conferences, television and sports productions, theaters and places of worship.

Exceptional Durability and Flexibility

New DPA 6388 CORE+ headset microphone is available in multiple colors, sizes, and connector options. It provides a secure and stable fit for long-term comfort, while providing exceptional durability and flexibility across a wide range of applications. An IP58 rating ensures the microphone is dust and moisture resistant, while a wide range of end connectors allow for connection and compatibility with almost all wireless microphone systems.

In conclusion

DPA Microphones has made a significant leap forward in acoustic performance and ease of use with the DPA 6388 CORE+ microphone. Since headset microphones are most often used in demanding environments with high levels of ambient noise (e.g. stage noise), the need for amplification before the onset of microphony presents a major challenge for other performances. The 6388 CORE+ overcomes these difficulties and delivers exceptional performance, precise source control and a directional response that delivers the distinctive, natural and authentic DPA sound with exceptional consistency.
