Project description

We had the opportunity to participate in equipping the new Congress & Event Center Zadar within the Pinija Hotel. The new congress center is one of the most modern congress venues in the Zadar area. The center is located within the hotel on the site of the former Maxi bar and contains two multifunctional congress halls with a total capacity of up to 650 participants and a Restaurant & Beach bar on the ground floor of the building. The space is characterized by modern circular architecture with large glass walls that allow for plenty of natural light with a spectacular panoramic view of the sea and the Zadar archipelago. LAV Projekt handled the full supply and installation of professional audio, video, and multimedia systems in the new Donat and Forum congress halls, providing an audio system utilizing the Dante protocol and a video system integrated with the SDVoE protocol.

Donat Congress Hall

The Donat congress hall spans on 348 m² and is situated on the first floor of the congress center, designed to accommodate larger congresses, events and weddings. For the needs of the hall, we implemented an LED video wall measuring 3.84 x 1.92 m, which serves as the main high-resolution presentation surface and enables a clear and impressive display of content. The LED video wall is composed of AVA LED TN-PRO-IF-1 modules, size 640x480x70 mm, pixel pitch 1.86.  Next to the video wall is a portable multimedia cabinet with different inputs (HDMI, mini HDMI, USB-C, network) for easy connection and presentation of material on the video wall. The Lumens VC-TR40 AI Auto-Tracking PTZ camera was also implemented, which enables high-quality video transmission and recording of events from different angles, with complete management flexibility. In the foyer in front of the hall, we installed a 32″ AllSee PF32HD9 LCD screen for Digital Signage, which is used to display the name of the hall, schedule of events and personalized messages, contributing to a professional impression and orientation of the participants. The same was installed in the foyer in front of the hall on the ground floor.

In order for the transmission and reception of the signal to be flawless, we also installed the accompanying distribution equipment, considering reliability and ease of use in everyday work. To change the signal source, there is an SDVoE control paired with a 10G network switcher that allows sending the signal from the upper to the lower hall and vice versa, as well as to mobile screens. Along with video solutions, we also implemented the audio system.

The audio system of the hall consists of a ceiling sound system, an ambient microphone (Sennheiser MEB 102W), which serves as a source for monitoring in the control room, wireless microphone solutions for conferences and events, and audio connection panels with XLR connectors arranged in different places in the hall. The ceiling sound system was equipped with RCF PL 8X coaxial speakers featuring an 8” woofer and a 1” tweeter. As a wireless microphone solution for holding conferences, the Sennheiser SL MCR 4 DW-3 four channel Dante wireless microphone system was delivered. System is equipped with Sennheiser SL Handheld DW-3-EU handles and MMD 845-1 BK capsules and Sennheiser SL BODYPACK DW-3-EU pocket receivers, which are used for DPA Microphones headset (4488-DC-R-F34) and lavalier microphones (4060-OC-C-B34). In addition to wireless solutions, Audix MG15 gooseneck microphones on Audix ATS 10 table bases were also delivered. At the end of the hall, there is an exit to the terrace, where we implemented two RCF WMR 50T wall-mounted loudspeakers for background music and inforamations during conference breaks.

Adjacent to the Donat Hall is a control room that is intended for technicians during events held in the hall. The control room contains all the equipment needed to control the hall’s AV systems. In order for the person in the control room to be able to hear what is happening in the hall, we delivered RCF AYRA PRO5 active monitoring speakers and Audix A150 studio reference headphones. The system is controlled via the supplied computer and a multiview 32” LCD screen, 16” touch monitor and a 7” touch control panel.

Forum Congress Hall

The Forum Hall is located on the ground floor of the new congress center and can accommodate up to 260 visitors. This multipurpose space has an area of 283 m² and is perfect for congresses and other events. The hall has movable partitions that enable the formation of smaller halls, ideal for meetings or seminars with fewer participants. For the needs of the Forum Hall, a 2.88 x 1.92 m LED video wall was installed as the central presentation area. As in the Donat hall, the LED video wall consists of AVA LED TN-PRO-IF-1 modules.  Iiyama 98″ LCD screens were provided on EDBAK TR18 mobile stands for the purpose of creating smaller halls as a mobile solution. These stands facilitate versatile usage and mobility across various spatial arrangements, suitable for activities such as workshops, panel discussions, or educational sessions. Additionally, they come equipped with a conference system, a multimedia computer, and HDMI switchers, which serve to select between multiple video sources and their integration into the SVDoE system. For added interactivity, the interactive 75’’ AllSee PT75J LCD touch screens where installed on a mobile stand. The AllSee PT75J is a 4K Slim Bazel touch screen with a built-in Meeting OS.

The audio system of the Forum hall is the same as the one upstairs in the Donat hall – RCF sound system and wireless microphone solutions. On the ground floor overlooking the hall, there is a technical/control room (with a control computer) next to which is located the heart of the entire system – two communication cabinets (rack cabinets). The rack cabinets consist of audio, video and network patch panels that connect the connection points in the halls, cameras, wireless microphone receivers, ceiling speakers and similar with the active equipment of the audio and video system. The communication cabinet is equipped with an ATEN OL2000HV uninterruptible power supply, fan units, a network switch for control, and houses the central SDVoE management system, along with the Xilica Solaro FR1-Dx2 DSP processor, amplifiers for ceiling speakers, and two Novastar VX1000 processors/controllers for LED video walls.

After completing the installation of the planned equipment, we performed tests and put the entire system into operation. This was followed by training on the use of the equipment for hotel employees. The Donat and Forum halls and the entire multimedia system were officially used for the first time during the UHPA Days, a three-day event that brought together the leading travel agencies in Croatia, officially opening the Congress & Event Center Zadar!
